The next evening, Dare rolled out of bed just as Fail was crawling into hers. She knocked lightly on the angels door, then entered. The vampire looked around the white room, it had crosses, bibles, even a large painting of the Last Supper over her bed. Fail treasured that picture, but Dare had drawn the line at hanging it in the dining room.
"Fail, I had a question about something you said earlier." Dare watched as Fail nodded sleepily, and Wampum widely yawned.
"Yes, Dare?"
The vampire shifted her leather-clad feet. "Do you really think it's a sin for two girls…?"  Fail had a face of confused wondering, but slowly had it dawn on her what was being asked. She sat up.
"Well, the bible never actually says anything against two females together, only about males. I, for one, think that it isn't a choice no matter your gender, and that if it is a sin, it shouldn't be." She smiled reassuringly, "I'm perfectly okay with homosexuality, Dare. Is that anything to do with all those Plitz's you keep receiving from a girl named Chanceri?" Dare looked surprised.
"How did you know about…?"
Fail laughed. "You're practically deaf, Dare! You plug you Plitzer into it's charger, and turn the speakers up to at least seventy-five percent! I hear them all day!"
Dare had a flushed and sheepish look on her face. "Sorry, hope they don't bother you at all." Fail waved her hand at Dare.
"Nah, for the most part, I'm just trying to catch up on my sleep. I haven't been getting all that much at night . Too much on my mind, I suppose. Just one thing, whatever happened to Lucky?" Dare grimaced at the name.
"I got a Plitz from him today, too. He wants to talk to me, ASAP. I suppose I'll see him as soon as I'm outside." Sure enough, once she had pulled on her red leather tight bottomed pants and black, silky, glittery tank-top, she found Luckless waiting for her at the front door to the building.  The vampire glared at him and continued walking, but not without noticing the bandages on his neck.
"Dare! I need to talk to you!" He ran after her, and grabbed her arm. She turned and hissed at him softly. He backed off. "Listen, Dare. Don't attack me again. I probably deserved it before, but now, I'm trying to apologize. I believe everything now, but don't worry, I won't tell anyone…"
Dare growled, "You don't know anything, Luckless. Just forget about me, vampires, and go back to your perfectly sane world." She turned sharply, her blue and white pony-tail swishing behind her. It was tied up in a big, black silk bow. Lucky stared after her.
"I love you, Dare Thompson! No matter what you are!"
At that, she turned with a smirk on her face, she couldn't help saying it… "Even if what I am is a lesbian?" At his shocked look, Dare laughed loudly and continued down the street. She giggled and petted Satori and her furry little head. The Genillin was always perched on her shoulder if not flying around at random. "Sure showed him, didn't we, girl?"
She arrived outside Reflections, where she saw Chanceri waiting for her in the alley beside the club. Dare waved and ran up to her, her heart racing. Chanceri pressed Dare against the brick wall and kissed her hard. Dare wrapped her arms around the other vampires neck, feeling her fangs against her tongue. They pulled apart, smiling and breathing heavily. Chanceri looked up and down the shorter girl, looking at the outfit.
"I almost wish you wouldn't wear such things… I don't like other people checking you out, Dare!" She laughed, and it sounded like bells. They linked arms and entered the club together. Neither were working tonight, just going out.
Dare blushed, "Who would be checking me out?" Chanceri smiled and discretely nodded in the direction of the Blood Bar. Dare looked out of the corners of her eyes to see Oberon looking in her direction with a face of pure interest.
"Nah, it must be you, she's looking at." Dare looked at Chanceri's short, red dress with the black fishnet stockings and sleeves. She wore one black high-top and one red one. She looked amazing, with her dark hair and violet eyes.
Chanceri shrugged. "It must just be us together." She laughed and tried to lead Dare onto the dance floor. Dare shook her head.
"I'll go get us some drinks," She winked and headed in Oberons direction. At the counter, she waved the blonde bartender over. Chanceri sat down on the leather couch, watching curiously. She hissed at a silver-haired masquerade-goer who tried to put his arm around her. He backed off.
Dare leaned onto the counter, "Can I have… two Bronzed Bloods, Oberon, baby?" Bronze bloods were red, alcoholic beverages. Oberon made no move to get the drinks, but eyed the fact that she could see right down the sparkly tank top.
"You here with my whiney ex-girlfriend?" She spoke the stingy words with ease. Dare winked at her.
"Why, are you jealous?" She pointed to the glasses above her head, hinting that she wanted her drinks. Oberon grabbed two and filled them up, making sure to put an extra shot of vodka in.
"Of you, not at all. Of her, slightly." She handed over the drinks. Dare smiled seductively.
"Where're you staying tonight, babe? Mind if I join you?" Oberon shook her head, took a pen and scrawled an address across the inside of Dares arm. Dare smiled, got up from her stool, and waved over her shoulder.
"You forgot your drinks!" Oberon called. The younger vampire laughed and turned back to the bartender. She took both the drinks, gulped down the first, and splashed the second in Oberons face.
"Oberon Slivus, YOU ARE A DIRTY WHORE AND I DO NOT LOVE YOU." Dare yelled at the top of her lungs and skipped back to Chanceri, who had a look of shock on her face. Both her hands covered her mouth, but her laughter was the loudest in the rooms. Dare helped her up, and they left the club together.
They strolled the streets together for what seemed like hours to Dare, whether she was giddy with rebel, love, or vodka. They stopped outside Chanceri's house. Her parents had bought it for her and left town when they'd found out about her clinical vampirism, they hadn't the heart to leave her with nothing, so they got her started. She kept in touch with them, but they never visited her, nor her them.
"What happened last night, Dare? With your parents?" Chanceri had her arms around Dares waist, and Dare had hers around Chanceri's neck. Their bodies were close enough to hold up a magazine between them. Dare paused, then told her most of the story. When she was finished, she whistled and Satori came swooping down to land on her shoulder. Chanceri softly patted the Genillin on the head.
"Amazing…" She whispered.
Dare smiled, "You're not phased at all, are you?" Chanceri kissed her on the mouth.
"I'll believe anything you'll tell me, Dare…" Her voice trailed off. Dare looked into Chanceri's purpley eyes. She asked what was on her mind.
The young vampire looked shyly at Dare. It was only times like these when Dare was reminded that Chanceri was only seventeen.
"Tell me that you love me, Dare."
Dare grinned, and hugged Chanceri to her tightly. She could feel the teenagers heart pounding against her own chest.
"I love you, Chanc-" A Plitz interrupted Dares words, the lights flashed for Fail. She turned off the Plitzer, although it said urgent. Kissing Chanceri, she forgot about it until someone tapped her on the shoulder.
It was Adam. And he looked pissed.
and... chapter five....
